We just can speak for us...

we host Opencms sites for known People

And there are a some other providers who advert for special Opencms-Hostings.

I`m not sure about there quality because theese are very very cheap..

Java Hosting isn`t as easy as for example PHP-Hosting so it can`t be as cheap as PHP-Hosting!

Then Java needs more Ram to working performant, so it must be more expensive than PHP-Hosting!

I may have found one that has very good experience with hosting OpenCMS driven sites.

From my initial conversations they really know their stuff.

I'll get some prices and keep you posted.

actually we?re working on a server concept for opencms hosting. But the concpt is build that only Opencms is working on this server. We run between 5 and 10 instances of opencms on such a server.

The price is about 70 - 100 Euros per Month... of course there are several support things included...

Kind Regards

Specialization always has its pros as well as cons. :) Please provide more details.

It sounds crazy for me living in USA. (hope, I am wrong) What is expected price for the Apache-PHP-MySQL hosting in your business area?

Well,

you surely can NOT compare a LAMP-Enviroment with a production Enviroment for Java... theese things are absolutely different.

Nevertheless i will provide you the two biggest providers for LAMP Enviroments in Europe:

www.1und1.de

www.strato.de

So you see, about 10 euros per month for a server where you have no possibility to support specialized API`s

Now please tell me, how to do things like providing WAR-File Upload in a Java Enviroment which uses 10 or more several people... as hint how to specialize xerxes ? :-) Surely you can say i build different CATALINA.BASES ... but all this is lot more complex than LAMP?s

You see, it?s impossible to do this without bigger problems...

Kind Regards

Thank you very much (are they biggest in Europe or just in *.de? ) :?:

I'd qualify tese problems as configuration problems. Such problems shold be solved by computers, not people, without adding essential TCO.

BTW. Why don't you use signature in your profile?

PS. I am a potential OpenCMS business owner - so, I'm on your side.

I remember theese are the biggest in europe.. not a hundred percent sure...

And you?re right theese are configuration problems ... so if you want a professionell to do this for you you have to pay for it.

If you want to use completely own computers, then you?re wrong in europe. This is actually nearly impossible because of the costs for backbones. The easiest way is to sue root servers from providers like server4free (isn?t really free), host europe, strato, 1und1 and so on...

So and then for one of theese computers you pay between 70 -100 Euros. You can manage about 10 Opencms-Systems on it. You pay less than 10 Euros for one ...

I think this is fair ...

So then, why need i a sig?

Kind Regards

Configuration problems should be designed by pros and they should be solved by computers. There are not so much designs aka patterns.
For example, ontologies are designed by pros and used by computerized problem solvers. BTW, this is our goal in http://openrules.com .[quote:34e508ba87="Arrasz"]So and then for one of theese computers you pay between 70 -100 Euros. You can manage about 10 Opencms-Systems on it. ALmost, formula should not be linear. :)[quote:34e508ba87="Arrasz"]So then, why need i a sig?
